The Nigerian striker’s new five-year deal will keep him at the Premier League team till 2021.

The 27-year-old Nigerian, Odion Ighalo, who scored 15 league goals in the last Premier League season, signed a contract to end speculations linking him with a transfer elsewhere.

He scored 17 goals in all competitions as Watford finished 13th in the table and reached the FA Cup semi-finals.

He was named the top-flight’s Player of the Month after netting five times in as many games during December.

Since arriving at Vicarage Road in July 2014, Ighalo has scored 37 times in 80 outings, forging an impressive partnership with fellow striker Troy Deeney.

Ighalo’s good form at Watford has earned him a regular place in the Nigerian national team, with three goals scored in nine international appearances.

Walter Mazzarri’s men start the new league campaign with a trip to Southampton on Saturday.
