According to the Chinese media reports in Beijing, more than 38 people have died in a fire outbreak that occurred on Monday night at an old people’s home in central China.
The report stated that six people were injured in the incident in Pingdingshan City in Henan province.
It said two of the injured were reported to be in serious condition.
An eye witness said on condition of anonymity that more than 10 residences in the Kangleyuan rest home have been destroyed and search and rescue work was underway.
He said there was no immediate indication of what caused the fire in the privately run home, which houses more than 160 elderly people.
He added that the small buildings had metal frames and were insulated with flammable foam. (dpa/NAN)
