Rafael Benitez set for Real Madrid as Napoli calls press conference.
Italian club, SSC Napoli have announced they will hold a press conference on Thursday with coach Rafa Benitez and president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
The news comes after Real Madrid made Benitez their number one target to replace Carlo Ancelotti following the Italian’s sacking on Monday.
A statement on Napoli’s official website read: “The president Aurelio De Laurentiis has announced this afternoon that there will be a press conference at 13:00 CET on Thursday.
“It will be a joint press conference with both De Laurentiis and Rafael Benitez.”
Ancelotti’s agent Ernest Bronzetti said on Monday that Benitez was ’99 percent certain’ to be the next Madrid coach.
The Spaniard won the Coppa Italia in his first season in charge of Napoli last term but has endured a frustrating campaign this time around.
The club are in fourth place in Serie A with just one game remaining against third-placed Lazio and failure to win that match will see them miss out on Champions League qualification.
