An Indonesian prisoner was released after name mistake was discovered. Authorities of Indonesia’s resort, Island of Bali on Tuesday hunting for a drug convict released from prison after confusion with a namesake, a report said.

Chaerul Anam had served just half of his nine-year sentence at the Kerobokan prison when he was released on May 15 instead of another inmate who had completed his seven-month sentence.

“There was a procedural error and we are investigating it; Anam reported to prison wardens as instructed when he heard his name over the loudspeaker on his release in place of the other prisoner,’’ report said.

According to the report, the prison authority believes that the convict is hiding in the East Java; the prisoner whose sentence was up for release was also released from the prison. (dpa/NAN)
