Property agents and Estate managers in Benin City, the Edo State Capital are currently experiencing boom in business as some politicians in the state have have offered their property for sale to fund their political campaign as the March 28, 2015 and April 11 general election draw closer.

According to investigation by LEADERSHIP, a drive around the Government Reservation Area (GRA) revealed that alot of choice properties hitherto owned by some prominent politicians have been sold as the new owners are busy re-constructing the building.

Sources said some of the politicians face financial challenges after the shift in the elections from the earlier date of February 14, 2015, to March 28 and April 11 respectively by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

They faced harder times financiaally after commercial banks refused to expressly grant loan facilities to some of them.

“There is no doubt the fact that we are broke and that is why my principal had to sell some of his properties to continue with his campaign with the hope and prayers that he wins the election. It is more disturbing to us that our opponent are busy sharing money to voters with PVCs,” a source said.
