Bodies discovered in Alaska may belong to a family that’s been missing for 10 months.

A driver traveling down a wooded trail Saturday night found clothing and what appeared to be human remains in the city of Kenai, police said.

A police officer walks to a temporary camp where officials are working to identify remains of what Kenai police think are a family missing since May.

“A very preliminary scene assessment has revealed information that points to the Kenai family that turned up missing in May of 2014,” police said. “Items that were observed at the scene appear to match items identified as missing from the residence.”

The family members who vanished are Brandon Jividen, 38; Rebecca Adams, 23; Michelle Hundley, 6; and Jaracca Hundley, 3. The family’s dog, Sparks, also went missing.

The FBI, which has been looking into the family’s disappearance since last year, is helping the Kenai Police Department investigate.
