NO fewer than 1.8 million members of the National Association of Sabbatarian Youths have adopted President Goodluck Jonathan as their candidate for the March 28, 2015 presidential election.
Rising from their meeting in Awka, the executive members of the association said their decision to adopt the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, was informed by their belief that his programmes would favour the Nigerian youths, going by what his administration has done so far.
A communiqué signed by the national president of the association, Mr. Kelechi Udezeh, the national secretary, Mr. Clement Orjiobasi and the public relations officer, Mr. James Opia, listed Jonathan’s achievements that favour the youths to include SURE –P, empowering youths through the churches, resistance to terrorism, elevation of the country’s democracy to the level of observance of the rule of law, improving quality of education through the establishment of several federal universities in all the geo-political zones of the country and establishment of Almajari schools in many parts of the North.
The group said: “Our president is a role model and youths learn from him. Though members of the opposition have been having a field day in criticizing him, the president has not manifested any form of retaliation.
“Having evaluated the political situation in the country, the youths of all Christians worshiping on Saturdays have decided to support his reelection bid. Already, we have printed and distributed over 20,000 pieces of well articulated stickers as part of our campaign programme.”
The association urged the president to continue to give the youths positions of importance in the next dispensation, assuring that they would not disappoint.
