Burnley’s Ashley Barnes Escapes FA Punishment Over Matic Deadly Tackle.
The English FA has decided not to take further action over the horror tackle on Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic by Burnley’s Ashley Barnes because referee Martin Atkinson saw the incident and took no action at the time.
According to the FA, taking a retrospective action will be seen as “re-refereeing” the challenge.
Matic was sent off for reacting angrily to the challenge and is set to miss three matches including the League Cup final against London rivals, Tottenham.
However, Chelsea has decided to appeal the ban and have until today (Tuesday) to submit their appeal.
